Blackjack is among the most commonly played card games in the online casino.

Objective of the Game

The game is between the dealer and the player. The aim is to come closest to (not above) the total card value of twenty-one. The worth of numbered cards is equal to their numeric value irrespective of the suits. Face cards worth ten point each. The Ace is worth either one or eleven point, depending on which value puts the total value closest to twenty-one.

How to Play

The game starts by dealing the player with two face-up cards and the dealer with one face-up card and one face-down card. The face down card is called hole-card. From then on, the dealer will deal face-up cards at the player’s request. If the players hand goes exceed total card value of twenty-one, the dealer wins and without any further need to play his own hand.

General Terms

Some of the commonly used terms in the game are:

Term # 1 Hitting

‘Hitting’ means ‘requesting’ for dealing the third card. The player is responsible to decide for this request after the he received initial two cards.

Term # 2 Standing

When the player has to deny for any more cards, he opts for Standing.

Term # 3 Busting

When on ‘hitting’ a player gets the total of above twenty-one, he is said to be busted, and consequently loses.

Term # 4 Doubling Down

Doubling down is to double the original bet. Player decides to double down after the initial two face-up cards.

Term # 5 Splitting

When a player finds his two face-up cards are equal in value, he can ‘split’ the hand into two. For this player must place additional bet on the new hand which would be of equal amount as of that of original bet. By doing this, each card of the original hand will become first card of new hand.

Term # 6 Taking Insurance

The dealer will ask the player to take insurance if the dealer’s face-up card is an ACE. If insurance is taken by the player, he must add the bet by equivalent to half of the original bet. If the player hand is a twenty-one, the player wins a 2 to 1 payout.
